Good morning!
Yesterday I rapidly introduced my self, today I’ll tell you something more about me. Let’s start from quoting something I’ve written in my previous article:
My name is Giulia I’m an italian girl who […] in her free time loves sailing.
Yes, I love sailing! I’ve started when I was little, I was 8 I think… Yes, I was 8 because my brother started when he was 6 and he is two years younger than me. Anyway… When you are moving your first step towards sailing, the first boat where you start learning all the manoeuvres is the Optimist and then you move to other boats when you grow. Right now I’m the bowman in a 420 with a girl, Lucia, that I’ve known since forever and it’s my best friend other than my helmsman. Lately she has been very busy with school so she had to basically stop training to focus on studying, hopefully on June she’ll be back and we’ll start again with our trainings.
Since I’m alone, in the meantime, I’m helping our coach and stand in for my team mates when someone can’t come. The 420 is an amazing boat, the only problem is that since it’s a boat for two people when someone does not come, also the other member of the team is stuck. This is one of the reasons why my brother left the 420 team one year ago to change boat, he now has a Laser which is a boat for a single person.
What is that you wanted to say after this very, very long introduction?
Well, so as I said before Lucia is not coming to training lately and I’m usually in the dinghy with Kost, our trainer, and I watch my friends have fun and train. Saturday my brother decided to join the 420 team since his coach was busy in a regatta.
Basically what happened was that after one hour of training, he came with his Laser next to the dinghy saying to me:
Come on! Get up from there, just take my Laser and go take a ride! I can see that you’d love to take a ride and you cannot wait to go for it. So, what are you waiting for?! Go go!
I mean, I have the sweetest brother in the entire world. He saw that I was looking at them having fun and I had my “you-have-no-idea-how-much-I’d-love-to-be-there-with-you” look on my face that, even if he is very jealous of his boat and I’m not trained in a Laser (aka there was the possibility I could ruin something), he lend it to me. I was so so happy as you can tell from the pic.
Thanks so much to my amazing brother.
Giulia xoxo
